Castle Rock to Cathlamet

We took a shortcut- well it was technically a long cut by 2 miles, but we avoided some of the big climbing of the day which is always nice. Instead of cutting through the mtns right to Cathlamet, we stayed on route 411 into Longview which was pretty much flat to rolling the whole way there. Out of Longview we got on Route 4/Ocean Beach rd.

The riding along 4, well mostly the first part before the bigger climbs, really helped t make up for the previous snow/sleet...On one side there is the Columbia river, which divides Washington and Oregon, and onthe other big cliffs with big pines on top. All along the route there were waterfalls-the camera couldn't really capture how cool it all looked though.

Since the temps were again goign to get into the 20s, we stayed at the only motel in the area- a little tiny place that costs a whopping 80 bucks, but didnt have internet or tv-but was recently remodeled so i'm sure we were paying for all that... tomorrow it is supposed to be warm enough to camp- yay!
