March 17th Barview to Cape Lookout

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I (Cook) woke up today tired, sore, and a little sick. While trying to keep Surly warm I fell asleep not fully covered in my sleeping bag and woke with the early stages of a head cold.

We rode through the stiffness and on to Tillamook to get our anxiously awaited food delivery at the post office. While Heather was in the post office getting our care package, I ran into a cyclist outside who had done the ride with our maps. He was able to give us lots of great advice to help us later on. The best advice was which route to take leaving Tillamook- there are two listed on the maps. One is longer, with more climbing-but the other one says that htere is no shoulder. Turns out neither has a shoulder, and the one with more climbing doesn't have any nice views. So-we choose the obvious- the shorter one...the 'highway' was just a two lane road through houses and farms.

The ride today wasn't too hard but there was lots of off and on rain. It rained pretty heavy before we arrived at the campsite. I'm tired of being wet.

Camp Lookout State Park has an awesome hiker biker camp. First is was awesome because it was right on the ocean. If we were any closer we would have be sandy.

I did a half-assed try at a fire and gave up...too wet. We ate lots, took a walk on the beach, and retired to the tent for our ongoing gin rummy game and went to bed.
