March 6th

33 miles 3hr, 30 min. Belfair to Shelton.

Riding along the Hood Canal was beautiful...there was one big climb around there that was not so fun. Were definitely still out of shape from so many days off the bike. I'm hoping that it'll only be about a week before were able to actually climb again. My legs feel fine- but with the chillier air its really hard to breath. Once I get used to it/it gets a little warmer hopefully my asthma won't bother me so much.

We then rode around Mason lake, which had some rolling hills, and some steeper hills. And only 3 dogs that chased us, fun! One ran up while I had Surly running along side- luckily the owner was right there, but he certainly wasn't in any hurry to grab his dog.

Coming into Shelton was a nice big downhill (which of course only means that leaving Shelton there will be a nice big uphill!) We hung out in Shelton for a bit- got some coffee- since we weren't able to get in touch w/ the Warmshower folks from there again, we weren't sure if itwas still ok to come by. Luckily- as we were out near one of the hotles checking on price just in case (the weather was susposed to start to get really cold/rainy/snowy)- a little kid came around the corner and asked "Are you the ones goign to stay with Alan and Donna and Lewis?!" - hey yes we were!

They lived about 5 miles out side of town- their exchange student from Germany, Mortiz, came to meet us and showed us how to get up to the house (good thing, we might've missed it). They cooked us a delicious dinner of pasta and salad- with a veagn sauce too! Thanks for letting us come on short notice!
